Super Style
Karen Elson, the star of White + Warren’s fall campaign reflects on confidence, ease and timelessness.Photographed in New York by Alexi Lubomirski, our newest campaign highlights timeless style worn by a timeless woman. Each look represents the everyday luxury of White + Warren cashmere on a woman who is the embodiment of what it means to be self-assured, graceful—iconic.
“An iconic woman is steadfast in who she is,” says Karen Elson, who projects effortless sophistication in the Essential Cashmere V Neck.
Elson emerged as one of fashion’s breakout stars in 1997—the same year as White + Warren’s founding—when she was photographed for the cover of Italian Vogue by Steven Meisel. Today, the British model and singer-songwriter lives with her two children in Nashville, where she puts a premium on comfort.
Having walked the runways of Alexander McQueen, Valentino, and Chanel, among countless others—it’s hard to believe Elson’s own sartorial preferences could be so practical, but she assures us she has a sentimental side. “When I put on my favorite piece from my closet, I always feel incredibly beautiful and nostalgic,” she says.
Nostalgia comes up again in the interview—the resurgence of ’90s style is one of the ways Elson connects with her daughter Scarlett. “My daughter is completely nostalgic for the 1990s and I get to live through the ’90s through her eyes again,” says Elson, who later models a matching cashmere set recalling the ’90s minimalism trend. “That’s been really wonderful."
While Elson looks to the past with gratitude—“I feel happy for all the life experience,” she admits—the “enormously wild ride it’s been” has also paved the way for Elson’s recent achievements: the release of her third album Green; a residency at Café Carlyle; and a speaker appearance at Vogue’s Forces of Fashion summit lined up for October 2022. “When I think about the future,” she tells us, "I hope it continues to be this grand and epic adventure.”
